I just thought I would share with you a letter that was forwarded to me from a non Muslim friend of Sri Lankan origins who was eager to show the solidarity with the Muslims in terms of getting Dismore out. Makes for some interesting reading and also shows the man's duplicitous nature.

Dear Friends,
You have an opportunity in the run up to the General Election on May 6th, to reflect on and review the actions of your current Labour MP, Andrew Dismore.
• Despite the rhetoric in his victory speech in 1997, that one of his main aims was to bring the Tamil and Sinhalese communities in his constituency together he has continued to promote the division between the two communities by spending a lot of his time pandering to the relatively small Hendon Tamil community by attending their various group meetings as well as sending them an anti-Sri Lankan monthly newsletter.
• There is no record of him attending any Sinhalese meetings or sending any newsletters to them. When questioned on this point, his reply was that if he was to devote time to the smaller communities, he will not be able to do anything else. He did however, have time to make over 90 trips to Cyprus and Israel, spent time supporting the regime of one of Asia’s most autocratic regimes of Uzbekistan’s Islam Karimov (Dismore is Joint Chair of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee) (http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2010/04/karimov_is_tota.html), worked for the legal firm until recently after the expenses scandal, spend a considerable amount of his time in his lucrative business of writing and (as he says), travel an average of 20 miles a day in the constituency on any given day (http://order-order.com/tag/snouts-in-the-trough/)
• He was a member of the Parliamentary Standards and Privileges Committee which decides on punishments for errant MPs, but refused to step down when his claims were made public saying that he has not broken any rules.
• He split £65,000 of “second home” allowances in the capital where his girlfriend carries on her homeopathy business (The Homeopathic Practice, 6 Leamington Road Villas, Notting Hill. London W11) run by his girlfriend.
• He has consistently opposed reforms to MPs’ expenses system and has claimed over £30,000 in travel expenses between 1997 and 2009 – far more than his neighbouring MPs. • Voted very strongly for the Iraq War (against the Constituency Labour Party decision), very strongly against an investigation into the Iraq war and very strongly against a Transparent Parliament.
• Repeated requests to him asking why the Prime Minister and his government has to date not commended the Sri Lanka government for militarily defeating the world’s worst terrorist organisation have been ignored but keeps criticising the Sri Lanka government for not re-settling the IDPs in his replies despite the fact that he has been reminded that it took the British government (probably the 2nd richest country at that time) over 2 years to resettle the IDPs following the 1953 floods in Eastern England in which 305 people died and some 30,000 people lost their homes. Instead he continues to spend a great deal of his time wooing the Pro-LTTE Tamil voters in blocking aid to Sri Lanka.

• Dismore has repeatedly denied supporting the LTTE terrorists and has made token statements in Parliament condemning them. He says that the Sri Lanka Government and the LTTE must be subjected to an International War Crimes Enquiry, with the knowledge that the LTTE is no more. However, Raj Jayadevan, a self confessed activist of the proscribed LTTE, and editor of the LTTE Hotsprings magazine, has been in long time confidant and a staunch supporter – does this not confirms that he has been strongly anti Sri Lankan government and Sinhalese. The following statements by Dismore have been extracted from his Update 19 to the Tamil Community:
“I was delighted to see that as a result of our Labour Government’s pressure, Sri Lanka’s GSP+ preference status with the EU is now being suspended”- which will severely impoverish the already poorly paid workers in the garments industry, including Tamils and Muslims.
“I was pleased to have been invited to attend the inaugural conference of the World Tamil Forum, which we hosted in Parliament, and to address the conference” This new forum is packed with known LTTE activists, including its Chairman, Rev Emmanuel and Gordon Brown, David Milliband and a host of Labour MPs supported it by speaking at its recent meeting
“I was also pleased to see that the Commonwealth conference is now not to be held in Sri Lanka, but in my view it is time for Sri Lanka to be suspended from Commonwealth membership” - The truth is that the 2011 meeting was moved to Australia at Sri Lanka’s request for logistical reasons and the proposal for Sri Lanka to be the venue for the 2013 meeting was proposed by Gordon Brown
